I. Registration and Cancellation
1. Who can participate in the event?
- In principle, anyone can register. However, each team does require a location where they can act as a host (for example, their own apartment, but teams have also cooked in office kitchens in the past).
2. Can I cancel my registration?
- You can cancel your registration free of charge up until the end of the registration phase. If you cancel only after the courses have been assigned, this involves re-planning. In such a case, it's crucial that you cancel as soon as possible so we can inform your hosts and guests accordingly.
II. Procedure
1. How does the event proceed?
- Before the event, you'll receive your schedule which includes information about the course your team is responsible for, and where and when you are guests for the other courses. Then, as a team, discuss what you want to cook and plan the preparation. If necessary, meet in the afternoon on the day of the event to prepare everything. In the evening, follow the schedule sent to you. Afterward, you can attend the after-party.
2. When will I be notified about the course my team is responsible for?
- You will receive this information at least 36 hours prior to the start of the starter, or on the morning of the day before the event.
3. When will I receive my schedule?
- You will also receive the addresses and times for the other courses at least 36 hours in advance, or on the morning of the day before the event.
4. How much time should I allot for the event?
- The start time for the first course can be found on the event or registration page. In addition, you should factor in time for preparing your course.
5. How is it decided which team prepares which course?
- This is determined through a draw, based on the stated preferences and distances between the registered apartments, a process which we manage.
6. What happens after the dessert?
- Typically, an after-dinner party is held at a central location following dessert. There, you can continue conversations and meet other teams. Register for the after-party during registration to ensure you're granted entry.
III. Being a Guest
1. What if I can't or don't want to eat certain things, or have a food allergy?
- If you indicate this at the time of registration, we will relay this information to your hosts so they can accommodate accordingly.
2. Do I need to be a good cook?
- No, the event is more about having fun and being sociable than it is about perfect cooking skills!
IV. Being a Host
1. Do I need to have my own apartment or kitchen to participate?
- Yes, since each team is expected to host once, you need to provide a location where you can host during registration. This could even be a garden shed or an office.
2. What if the apartment is somewhat on the outskirts?
- Still register, because we take into account travel times when planning. If no suitable route can be found, we will try to plan a route where you are a guest and not a host. If in exceptional cases it's clear that your apartment is too far out and no solution can be found, we will contact you.
3. How many guests will I be hosting?
- Typically, each course sees 3 teams of 2 members each coming together. In exceptional cases, it could be more than six people, which is why we ask during registration how many people you can accommodate at most. You will be informed about the exact number of guests when your course is assigned.
4. What if my apartment is small and doesn't have a large dining table?
- Being a good host doesn't necessitate having a large apartment. A desk can be used as a dining table, and the bed can be used as seating. And finger food on the living room couch can make for a great meal.
5. Who pays for the food and drinks?
- Each team is responsible for the cost of ingredients and drinks for their own course. Consequently, each team only hosts once and is a guest twice.
6. What should I cook?
- Essentially, you are free to choose the recipe. However, it would be considerate of your guests to take into account any dietary restrictions when choosing the recipe. You will learn about any dietary restrictions your guests have when your course is assigned.
V. Transfers
1. How much time do I have to switch locations between courses?
- We allow sufficient time for transitions between courses.
2. What if I am late?
- If you are over 20 minutes late as a guest, or over 10 minutes late as a host, please contact the emergency number so that we can notify your guests or hosts.
3. Do I need a car or bike?
- No, we'll plan all transfers for public transit
VI. Further Questions
1. Is there an emergency contact if there are problems or questions during the event?
- Yes, we ensure that all participants have a contact number they can call in case of emergency.
